Over a decade of management and marketing skills were applied to various business start-ups. Each business was established, developed and sold after sustaining profits over a period of time.
EVRS – Employment Verification & Resume Service
Employment services were marketed to businesses and their former employees. EVRS was an early adopter of the personal computer in small business. Marketing collateral, broadcast faxing, contact management, employment verification database, and financial speadsheets were some of the pc applications developed for the business.
Bed & Breakfast on the Bay
A group of Navy Seals who co-owned a 45' sailboat presented an opportunity to enter the hospitality industry. The boat was marketed as a Bed & Breakfast located in Glorietta Bay across from the Hotel del Coronado in San Diego, CA. Although the partners had captain licenses and offered an impressive list of sailing adventures, most guests preferred the privacy of remaining moored in the bay without any intrusions from the staff.
PEBS - Payroll & Employee Benefits Service
EVRS clients expressed a need for competent payroll services. Employee Benefits that required payroll deductions were marketed along with the payroll processing service. Clients enjoyed not having to coordinate employee enrollment and termination with different service providers for payroll processing and benefits administration.
Custom PC Applications
The computer programs deveoloped for EVRS were marketed to provide similar solutions for other small businesses. Custom applications were marketed to hospitality, telecommunications, auto leasing, manufacturing, specialty food distribution, electronics and computer component businesses.
Accounting Software Sales & Support
Turn-key accounting programs were sold, installed, customized and maintained for clients from various industries. The accounting programs were sold with source code allowing modification and custom module development to provide specific solutions for individual client needs.
