The New Millennium Gold Rush

The development of The Web for commercial purposes provided an opportunity to apply marketing skills to various Internet & Information Technology services. Just about any technology that could be referred to using a 3 or 4 letter acronym was marketed.


The goals of the companies were the same, to generate enough interest for an IPO. As the 'first-to-market' vapor-ware companies became 'first-to-failure' and the Internet bubble burst before the anticipated IPOs materialized, the companies managed to execute successful exit strategies and were bought and assimilated into other enterprises.
