A decade working in Health Care encompassed several positions ranging from staff to administration. Regardless of the facility, staff and administration both prided themselves in their ability to get things done in spite of the other.
Some noteworthy accomplishments included:
- Reaching consensus for optimal solutions rather than compromised, mediocre ones.
- Overcoming “OPM addiction” by respecting Other People's Money as if it were my own.
- Beginning contract negotiations at zero rather than what was previously offered.
- Nudging professionals to accept that they might not be as brilliant outside their fields.
- Always remembering who's the customer regardless of who's the payer.
